Program Overview

The Master of Arts in Communication Studies (MACS) program seeks to develop within students a specialized knowledge of management communication theories and leadership practices for application in organizational and institutional contexts of various kinds--including business, non-profit and service sectors, governmental, educational, political and international.

Goals of the MACS Program

  • Provide students with methodological foundation for successful performance in communicative and decision-making roles essential to the operation of human enterprises and institutions of every description.
  • Provide students with a sound understanding of the diverse forms of communication and information theory.
  • Enhance students' creative skills in the use of new technologies and other media.
  • Introduce students to methodologies and procedures of research and analysis in human communication.
  • Prepare students to design, carry out, and evaluate projects in the communication field.
