Alumni Association Board Elections - Spring 2007

Election of Continuing Directors - Three-Year Term

James Alexander '73
Jim received his bachelor of arts in mathematics. Following graduation he worked for Northwest Savings Association in the Data Processing Department and advanced to the position of Data Processing Manager. In 1976 Jim joined the staff of Pro-Mation, Inc. as Vice President of Systems. Since 1985 Jim has been employed by Sequoia Voting Systems in Jamestown, New York, and is currently Senior Project Manager. Sequoia is one of the leading voting systems companies in the country. The election software he developed is being used by numerous county and state governments, including the five boroughs of the City of New York. It has also been used to tabulate the ballots for Major League Baseball's All Star game, the National Hockey League's All Star game and the National Football League's Pro Bowl.

Jim is a Eucharistic Minister and religious education teacher at St. James Catholic Church in Jamestown. In 1998 he was named Religious Educator of the Year for his parish in the Buffalo Diocese. During the summer he manages and plays for the St. James softball team in the Jamestown Area Church League. Jim is Vice President of the Jamestown Kiwanis Club and member their Board of Directors. Jim also is a Compeer volunteer and serves on the Compeer Advisory Board. In 1999 and 2002 he was the Compeer Volunteer of the Year. Jim is the father of two grown children, Jennifer and James.


Paul M. Belosh '69
Paul graduated from Edinboro in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He currently resides in Edinboro with his family; his wife Kathy, and their children Jordan and Halle. Paul is self-employed in the medical sales and service field. He has been a long time advocate of Edinboro University athletics. Paul has been closely involved in the development and support of several athletic scholarship funds.


Aubrey Dillon '61
Aubrey Dillon is a name familiar to several generations of Edinboro students. A 1961 and 1964 graduate of Edinboro (Social Studies and Master of Education), Aubrey retired from Edinboro University after 22 years of service in Student Personnel Services where he was the Chairperson for the Department of Academic Support Services. Aubrey has been listed in Who's Who in Black America and was president of the local chapter of Phi Delta Kappa, a professional education organization. Aubrey is a volunteer Jazz Host for WQLN and sits on numerous local Boards. Aubrey continues to reside in Edinboro.


Emily Lucarotti Evans '69 & '74
Emily received a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech and Hearing and Elementary Education from Edinboro in 1969. She further went on to complete her Master's Degree in Elementary Education in 1974.

A licensed speech pathologist, Emily has been employed with the School District of Erie since 1969. Serving in various capacities, her career focus has been working with speech impaired children and helping them develop communication skills.

Emily has enjoyed serving as a member of the Alumni Board since 1983. In addition, she has also served as a member of the Distinguished Alumni Awards Committee since 1989. Emily is married to Jeffrey W. Evans and they have two children, Maura and Jeffrey.


M. Quinn Zahorchak '87
Quinn Zahorchak followed the Zahorchak legacy at Edinboro and graduated in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communications. Following graduation he accepted a position with Ford Motor Credit Company in Washington, DC. Two years later he accepted a finance position with The Hondru Group of Dealerships and worked his way to general manager. In 1998 he shifted to Mortgage Banking, accepting a position with North American Mortgage Co, and by 2000 he was the ninth largest producer in the country. When the company was sold in 2002 he took a position with First Horizon Home Loans, a subsidiary of First Tennessee Bank. As a branch manager he combined forces with others in Pittsburgh and opened a wholesale center. By the end of the first year they were the biggest wholesale branch within the organization and by the end of 2003, they were also the most profitable branch in the country, funding over $2.4 billion in mortgages and over $16 million in net profit. Currently, First Horizon is the tenth largest mortgage lender in the country.

Quinn and his wife, Marybeth, have three children; Patrick, Marykate, and Michael. Michael is named for his grandfather, a 1937 graduate of Edinboro. The Zahorchak legacy at Edinboro spans three generations and includes at least seven graduates, not counting some in-laws! In his spare time Quinn enjoys golf, taking the boys to watch their sister play soccer, Edinboro Homecoming's and an annual vacation in Edinboro.

President: Two-Year Term

Herm Tomer '71
Herm balances a busy professional life with an equally full volunteer schedule. He is involved with both investments and management activities, and service to public, private and non-profit organizations. Herm currently serves as president of Tomer Development Company, a highly successful business and land development firm that focuses on real estate developments including the 500-acre "Twin Rivers" mountain resort project in Boone, NC; and 500-acre "River Forest Country Club" project in Freeport, PA, near Pittsburgh. Herm also is involved with several other land developments along the east coast, an alternative fuels start-up, and is co-owner of the award-winning Enrico's Ristorante in Pittsburgh. He previously served as President of BRM/Gateway, the nation's largest independent disaster recovery center; as President of Gateway Archives and Gateway Management Services in Pittsburgh, as CIO and VP of Information Services with three Fortune 500 companies, and as a Navy Intelligence Officer in Vietnam and the Pentagon. Herm and his wife, Barbara Corsi Tomer, are the proud parents of six children and three grand-children. His parents are the late Artence Olivo Tomer and Neil C. Tomer. He has received the "Distinguished Alumnus" Award from Edinboro University, as well as service awards from Big Brothers & Big Sisters and Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.

His associations and memberships include American Legion, Big Brothers & Big Sisters, Edinboro University Alumni Association, Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, River Forest Country Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Vietnam Veterans. As his schedule permits, Herm enjoys golf, photography, fly fishing and travel.


Vice President: One-Year Term

Dr. Nancy Rung '70 & '84
Nancy received a bachelor's degree in English and a master's in gerontology from Edinboro. In 1977, she was awarded a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland. For the past 30 years, she has been in private practice in Conneaut and Geneva, Ohio.

She has been involved in many professional and community activities. She was national president of the American Association for Women Podiatrists, 1984-86. Nancy served as chair of the Ohio Podiatric Medical Association Gerontology Committee, and also as special editor of the Journal of Podiatric Medicine for several years. She has published numerous articles on podiatry. In the local area, she has served as board president of the Ashtabula County Speech and Rehabilitation Agency and on the advisory board of the Knoedler School of Licensed Practical Nursing.

She owns a stained glass and wood shop, called "Chips and Splinters". Her hobbies include carving birds from wood, writing short stories, and quilting. She has been an active member of the Alumni Board of Directors since 1994. She previously served as board secretary, and this will be her third term as vice president.


Secretary: One-Year Term

Charles Bish, Sr. '57
Charles received his B.S. in secondary education from Edinboro and a M.P.H in environmental health from the University of Minnesota in 1967. He spent nearly thirteen years in the practice of public health, which included environmental enforcement and planning, supervisory status and consulting to health care facilities on cross-infection control. He served as associate executive director for the Health Systems Agency of Northwestern Pennsylvania for seven years. He was an assistant professor at Slippery Rock University for twenty years, teaching health related subjects. Chuck served as chairman of the Department of Allied Health for nine years. He served on the education committee for the National Board of Examiners for long-term care administrators, to develop national standards for an undergraduate academic curriculum. He was appointed by Governor Ridge to serve a four-year term on the Pennsylvania Board of Nursing Home Examiners. He is currently a member and treasurer of the Crawford County Area Agency on Aging Board of Directors.


Treasurer: One-Year Term

Donna J. Deeter '01
During her pursuit of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, Accounting and Finance Donna received the following recognitions; Departmental Achievement Award; Fall & Spring Dean's List, 1999 Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants Scholarship, 2000 Presque Isle Chapter of International Association of Administrative Professionals Scholarship, Who's Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges 2000-2001, Summa Cum Laude, and served as a member of Alpha Sigma Lambda (National Honors Society for Non-traditional Students), Sigma Beta Delta (National Honors Society in Business, Management and Administration), Accounting I and II tutor.

After graduation she obtained employment from Tech Tool & Mold, Inc. in Meadville, PA as their cost accountant and purchasing agent. Her duties include tracking and reporting all cost applied to the jobs and purchasing all products needed to ensure timely completion. She resides on a small farm in Cochranton, PA with her son; 16 and daughter;13. Together they enjoy horseback riding, volleyball and swimming.
