GUIDELINES AND CRITERIA
The Edinboro University of Pennsylvania Alumni Association (EUPAA) proudly celebrates and honors alumni whose achievements shine in our community. Presented first in 1976, the Edinboro University Distinguished Alumni Award was established to recognize outstanding alumni and the tradition of excellence at the University. Past recipients have committed themselves to the mission of the University: advancing the values and goals of a democratic society and ensuring the survival of present and future generations with improvements in the quality of life.
With these awards, we continue to pay tribute to those notable alumni who have used their Edinboro University education to bring excellence to their professional achievements, to recognize individuals for their loyal service to the University and to provide inspirational leadership to others. They bring high honor to themselves, their community and Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.
These distinguished recipients are representative of the rich diversity of our University. Their stellar examples pave the way for future graduates and their enduring commitment to integrity, civility, diversity and service.
Nominees must meet one of the following criteria:
Exempted from consideration for these awards are current members of the Alumni Association Board of Directors (not including honorary lifetime members), current members of the Council of Trustees, faculty and staff. Once an individual is no longer associated with the above categories, he/she will be eligible for consideration.
Selection will be based on information submitted by the nominator via the nomination form, with varying consideration given to the following areas:
These outstanding individuals are honored at the Distinguished Alumni Awards dinner in the spring of each year on the campus of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Honorees will be invited to visit and speak to classes in the discipline of their major or a related discipline, if appropriate.
The nominator is responsible for submitting all required material to the Edinboro University Distinguished Alumni Awards Committee, which is composed of members of the Edinboro University Alumni Association Board of Directors, Alumni Office staff, and selected graduates. The committee will meet at least once a year to make its selection. Attendance by three of the five voting committee members will qualify as a quorum. Once a nomination is received, it will be reviewed for that year and the following year only. In any given year, three to five total awards will be made only if qualified nominations have been submitted. To facilitate fair and equal judgment, please summarize the nominee's accomplishments as requested within the nomination form.
Materials must be received at the Alumni Relations Office no later than October 1st to be considered for that year's award. Late nominations will not be considered for that year's awards.
