Edinboro Senior Earns Three Wins in Four Games

EDINBORO, PA - Edinboro University standout Brianne Taylor (Waterford, PA/ Fort LeBoeuf) was named the PSAC West Player of the Week after posting three wins for the Fighting Scots last week. Taylor, a three-time all-conference selection, started all four games for Edinboro during the week as the team went 3-1 to improve to 7-20 overall and 3-7 in the PSAC West.

Taylor, a Fort LeBoeuf product, fired 30.0 innings allowing only 10 hits and 3 unearned runs while striking out 36. The senior hurler improved her school record strikeout mark to 457 batters fanned. Taylor did not allow an earned run last week despite pitching in 30 of the 32 innings played by the Fighting Scots.

Taylor opened the week with the first one-hitter of her collegiate career in a 2-0 win over Slippery Rock. She tossed seven innings, allowing only three base runners while striking out 9. After a leadoff walk in the fourth inning, Taylor closed the game by retiring 12 straight batters for her 10th career shutout.

Taylor also threw the first five innings of a 9-1 win over the Rockets in the second game of the doubleheader. Slippery Rock managed just 3 infield hits in the second game while striking out six times.

The Waterford, PA native continued her dominance with a two-hit outing in a 2-1 win over Clarion on April 12. Taylor pitched eight innings allowing one unearned run while striking out 10. It was the third time she has struck out 10 or more batters in a game this season.

In the second game of the doubleheader, Taylor displayed her endurance by throwing all ten innings in the team's 2-1 loss to Clarion. The righthander gave up four hits and one walk while striking out 11.

On the year, Taylor has compiled a 5-12 record with a 3.24 ERA. She has thrown 100.0 innings allowing 79 hits and issuing only 28 free passes. Edinboro's all-time strikeout leader has whiffed 108 batters on the year while giving up just 36 earned runs in 17 appearances.

Taylor will be back on the mound on April 18 when Edinboro hosts conference foe Indiana(Pa.) at 3:00 p.m. With 10 games remaining Taylor needs five wins to become the all-time wins leader at Edinboro. Kathy Mazur holds the current mark with 39 career victories.
