EDINBORO, PA - Edinboro University senior Adam Kaufman (Coraopolis,PA/Montour) today became the career leader in assists in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. The 5'11" guard now has 730 career assists, breaking the record of 725 assists previously held by Delmar Beshore of California(Pa.). Beshore played for the Vulcans from 1974-78.
Kaufman broke the record when he assisted on a basket by Jason Roseto (Harborcreek, PA/ Harbor Creek) with 56 seconds remaining in the first half. He finished the afternoon with 9 assists as Edinboro defeated Kutztown, 78-55, to improve to 5-0 on the season.
In addition to now holding the PSAC career record for assists, Kaufman moved into eighth place in NCAA Division II all-time assists. He has led the PSAC in assists in each of his first three seasons, including a school-record and PSAC-record tying 276 assists as a freshman, ranking him third nationally. He handed out 203 assists as a sophomore, good for fifth in Division II. A year ago he dished out 211 scoring passes, a figure which stood fourth in Division II.
Kaufman is a three-time All-PSAC selection, earning second team honors as a freshman and first team recognition the last two years. He was an honorable mention Division II Bulletin All-American a year ago.
