TRACK AND FIELD TEAMS PLACE THIRD AT PSAC QUADRANGULAR

Eight Fighting Scots Capture First Place Finishes

EDINBORO, PA - The Edinboro University men's and women's track and field teams both placed third in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Quadrangular Track Meet held at Slippery Rock University yesterday, April 17. Three members from the women's team and four members from the men's team captured first place finishes.

The Boro's first place finishers were: Lisa Gallagher (Strongsville, OH/Strongsville), Lisa Petsche (Dublin, OH/Dublin Coffman), Jocelyn Smith (Pittsburgh, PA/Shaler), Lindsay Roberts (Wattsburg, PA/Seneca), James Ansberry (Solon, OH/Solon), Aaron Rowe (Dublin, OH/ Dublin), Yi Min Wu (Tian Jin, China), and Chris Dines (McKees Rocks, PA/Montour).

Gallagher placed first in the steeplechase with a time of 12:38.90. Petsche won the women's 5,000 meters in 18:50.98, almost, 45 seconds faster than the second place finisher. Smith finished one second ahead of Fighting Scot teammate Kathy Breisch (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) in the women's 1,500 meter, winning the race at 4:50.60. In the women's 3,000 meters, Roberts finished first in 10:50.48, six seconds faster than teammate Shannon Loewke (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia).

On the men's side, Rowe won two events for the men, first the 1,500 meters, finishing at 4:00.93 and also in the 800 meters, covering the distance in 1:58.01. In the 1,500 meters, Rowe was followed by three of his teammates to sweep the top four spots. Nat Wibberly (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing Area) placed second at 4:02.15, Kimmo Lassila (Veteli, Finland) finished third at 4:11.66, and Colin McLelland (Lakewood, OH/Lakewood) finished fourth at 4:12.75. Ansberry won the men's steeplechase in 9:51.6, crossing the line almost 35 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Wu captured first place in the men's 5,000 meters 45 seconds ahead of the competition, finishing at 15:27.96. Dines jumped 6'5" to win the men's high jump at the meet.

Edinboro returns to action this weekend, Saturday, April 20, in another PSAC quad meet at Indiana (PA).
