LINDSEY SCHLIEPER AND MEGAN ZITNER PLACE IN MILLERSVILLE HEPTATHLON

Fighting Scots Finish in Fourth and Seventh

EDINBORO, PA - Three members from the Edinboro University men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Millersville Heptathlon this past weekend, at Millersville University. Sophomores Lindsey Schlieper (Glendive, MT/Essex County) and Megan Zitner (Milan, OH/Edison) both finished in the top ten in the heptathlon.

The heptathlon was comprised of seven events - the 100 meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200 meter sprint, long jump, javelin, and the 800 meter run.

Schlieper finished in fourth place, posting 4,272 points. The sophomore completed the hurdles in 15.69 seconds, jumped 4'9" in the high jump, threw the shot put 29'11.5", ran the 200 meters in 27.45, landed 16'9.25" inches in the long jump, threw 94'10" in the javelin, and ran the 800 meters in 2:24.74.

Zitner finished in seventh place, earning 4,121 points. She finished the hurdles in 15.65 seconds, jumped 4'6" in the high jump, threw 27'2.75" inches in the shot put, sprinted a 27.11 200 meter, long jumped 15'11.5", threw the javelin 105'2", and finished the 800 meters in a time of 2:27.64.

On the men's side, Edinboro sent senior Kurt Bloxham (Honesdale, PA/Honesdale) to compete in the decathlon. He pulled his hamstring in the 100 meters and then only competed in four events. Bloxham finished the 100 meters in 12.90, long jumped 14'3.75", threw the shot put 35'9.5", and finished with a throw of 112'9" in discus.

The Edinboro track and field teams return to competition on Wednesday, April 17 at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Quad meet held at Slippery Rock University. Following the quad meet on Wednesday, Edinboro will travel to the Indiana (PA) for another conference quad meet held at the IUP on Saturday, April 20.
