EDINBORO, PA - The Edinboro University women's soccer team has jumped eleven spots in the NCAA Division II national rankings. The Fighting Scots stand in the 14th position, after occupying the 25 slot in last week's poll.
Coach Gary Kagiavas' team has gone 8-0-1 in its last nine matches to move to 10-3-1 for the year. That represents the best start in the school's history, also tying the school record for wins in a season. The Fighting Scots are 7-1-1 in PSAC play and have secured a spot in conference playoffs.
Northern Kentucky is the top-ranked team in the country with a perfect 14-0-0 mark, followed by Franklin Pierce (13-0-0), Christian Brothers (14-0-0), Regis (9-0-0) and Univ. of California, San Diego (11-1-0).
In addition to ranking 14th nationally, Edinboro is second in the Northeast Region. Lock Haven is first with a 12-2-0 record, with Bloomsburg (9-2-1), in third place. Indiana(Pa.) (10-2-1) Adelphi (9-2-1) round out the top five squads in the region.
