EDINBORO, PA - Edinboro University's volleyball team has placed high among the individual and team rankings in Division II. As of September 29, 2001, the Fighting Scots rank in two team categories, while three Scots rank indivdually.
Head coach Lynn Theehs led her team to the number 23 spot in digs and 24 in kills. The Boro has recorded 19.3 digs per game and is tied for the 24th rank with 15.61 kills per game.
Freshman Renee Kam (Eden, NY/Eden) is 6th in the nation in assists per game. Kam recorded 927 assists in Edinboro's 18 games and averages 13.24 per game. The 5'9" setter also leads the PSAC in assists.
Stephanie Burner (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) is tied for 13th in digs, leading Edinboro with 299 and 4.33 per game. As a junior, Burner also leads the PSAC in digs.
Fighting Scot Ashley Walton (Mt. Wolf, PA/Northeastern) holds down the 28th rank for hitting percentage. The sophomore middle hitter has registered a .367 percentage, recording 242 kills. Walton places third among the PSAC percentages.
The Boro returns home to play Indiana (PA) on Tuesday, October 9th, after a four game road trip. The Scots have posted a 2-0 record over IUP so far this season. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
