EDINBORO, PA -- One week after making a solid debut as Edinboro's starting tailback Andre Burke (Wilkinsburg, PA/Valley) has been named the PSAC West Offensive Player of the Week. The 5'10", 205 lb. junior spearheaded a Fighting Scot ground game that finished with 261 yards as Edinboro posted a 54-12 win over WVU Tech. Burke finished with 173 yards on 22 carries with 4 TDs, one shy of the school record, despite playing just one series in the third quarter. He scored on a 5-yard run in the first quarter, on runs of 7 and 3 yards in the second quarter, and finished his day with a 17-yard scamper in the third quarter.
Burke leads the Fighting Scots in rushing with 251 yards on 35 carries with 5 TDs. He opened the year with a team-leading 78 yards on 13 carries in his first collegiate action, scoring his first touchdown on a 5-yard run.
Edinboro, now 1-1, returns to action on Saturday, September 18 at Tiffin. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m.
