Organized two decades ago, the Fighting Scot Booster Club’s primary mission is to provide financial support for the athletic program while promoting community awareness and involvement in the University. An advisory group dedicated to the advancement of athletics, its objective of providing scholarships in support of student-athletes and their goals parallels the department’s mission of furthering community awareness of the overall athletic department.
Each spring, members of the Fighting Scot Booster Club will conduct a national and communitywide fund raising campaign to support the cost of athletic operating expenses. While student activity fees cover a portion of operating expenses, private funding is crucial in maintaining the level of excellence the Fighting Scot programs have enjoyed in recent years.
By choice, participants may wish to donate their funds to enhance existing endowment scholarships within the department. Since the inception of the Booster Club, over 50 individuals, families, and/or corporations have set up named endowments to supplement the scholarship account. The principle dollars of the endowment are never used for scholarships, but rather the interest generated is allotted each year for the designated sport. If you’re interested in setting up an endowed scholarship, call Bruce Baumgartner at (814) 732-2776 ext. 223.
