ADAM KAUFMAN NAMED TO DIVISION II BULLETIN ALL-AMERICAN TEAM

Junior Guard Earns Spot on Honorable Mention Squad

EDINBORO, PA - Too many times the emphasis is placed on points when it comes to men's basketball. More often than not, it's the player who scoers the most points who receives the most honors. But the Division II Bulletin, a publication devoted to Division II basketball, has seen fit to recognize a player who sets up the people score all of those points.

Edinboro University junior Adam Kaufman (Corapolis, PA/Montour) was accorded a spot on the Division II Bulletin Honorable Mention All-American squad. The 5'11'' junior recently earned first team All-PSAC honors for the second straight year, and was also a second team NABC All-East selection.

"This is another example of how good things happen to good people and good players," related head coach Greg Walcavich. "He was a very good player when he got here, and he has made a very concerted effort to improve his play. It would be my expectation that he has positioned himself for a great senior year. He certainly deserves this and more."

The 5'11'' guard helped the Fighting Scots finish with a 13-13 ledger. Kaufman is fast approaching the PSAC record for career assists. The Scot floor general recorded 211 assists, the third-highest season total and the third year in a row that he has had at least 200 assists. Kaufman now has 687 career assists, a figure which ranks first all-time at Edinboro, second in the PSAC annals, and 15th in NCAA Division II records.

Kaifman finished as the Scots' third-leading scorer at 11.8 ppg., adding 4.1 rpg. In addition to ranking first in career assists, he is fourth in both career steals with 168, and career three-pointers made with 119.

Kaufman scored in double figures in 16 contests, with a season-high 29 markers at Clarion. He posted five double-doubles, and handed out 10-or-more assists eight times. That includes a career-high 16 at Gannon, plus 14 vs. Mansfield. Kaufman paced Edinboro in scoring twice. While scoring is not his main focus, he has totaled 840 points, tying him for 29th all-time in the Scot annals.
