EDINBORO RUNNERS COMPETE AT NATIONALS

Barker, Wu Finish Back-to-Back in 5,000 Meters

EDINBORO, PA - The Edinboro University track tandem of Yi Min Wu (Tian Jin, China) and Jeff Barker (Batro, PA/Boyertown) finished 12th and 13th, respectively, in the 5,000 meter run at the NCAA Division II Track & Field Championships. The championships were held in Raleigh, NC and hosted by St. Augustine's College.

Wu, a sophomore, finished with a time of 15:06.76, while Barker, a senior, was next at 15:16.80. Michael Aish of Western State finished first with a time of 13:59.59.

Barker previously captured All-American honors with a seventh place finish in the 10,000 meter run. He was the 1999 PSAC champion in the 10,000 meters.

Wu, meanwhile, was a two-time All-American a year ago at Nationals, finishing second in the 10,000 meters and sixth in the 5,000 meters. He is a two-time cross country All-American, including capturing the National Championship in 1998.
