[Red Ball Bullet] FIGHTING SCOT GRIDDERS BEGIN SPRING DRILLS (3/27/03)

EDINBORO, PA - Edinboro University head football coach Lou Tepper will send his football team through spring drills beginning on Saturday, March 29. The Fighting Scots will practice every Monday and Wednesday, along with every Friday except April 18, during April before concluding spring practice with the Red & White Game on Saturday, April 26 at 2:00 p.m. The Scots will also hold practices on Saturday, April 5 and Saturday, April 12. [Red Ball Bullet] SEAN McNICHOLAS A STANDOUT IN CACTUS BOWL (1/13/03)

EDINBORO, PA - Edinboro University All-American Sean McNicholas (Kirtland, OH/Kirtland) turned in a strong performance while playing in the Whataburger Cactus Bowl in Kingsville, TX on Friday, January 10. McNicholas was a member of the East squad which prevailed over the West, 20-6. (more)


[Red Ball Bullet] SEAN MCNICHOLAS NAMED TO ASSOCIATED PRESS LITTLE ALL-AMERICA TEAM (12/26/02)

EDINBORO, PA - Edinboro University senior Sean McNicholas (Kirtland, OH/Kirtland) has received yeat another honor following his outstanding season. After previously being named to an AFCA first team All-American and D2Football.com second team All-American, the Edinboro punter has now been accorded Associated Press Little All-America first team honors. The Associated Press Little All-America team is comprised of players from NCAA Division II and III and NAIA institutions. (more)

EDINBORO, PA - Two Edinboro University football players have been named to the D2Football.com Division II All-American Football Teams. Senior Sean McNicholas (Kirtland, OH/Kirtland), recently named the punter on the American Football Coaches Association 2002 Division II Coaches'All-American team, landed a spot on the D2Football.com second team, while fellow senior Brandon Nicodemus (Altoona, PA/Altoona) was accorded honorable mention honors at offensive line. [Red Ball Bullet] SEAN MCNICHOLAS NAMED TO AFCA DIVISION II ALL-AMERICAN TEAM (12/11/02)

EDINBORO, PA - Edinboro University senior Sean McNicholas (Kirtland, OH/Kirtland) has been named to the American Football Coaches Association 2002 Division II Coaches'All-American team. McNicholas is AFCA All-American since Pat Schuster was accorded the honor in 1995. In addition, he becomes just the fifth Fighting Scot to capture the award, joining Schuster, Ernest Priester, Elbert Cole, and Rich Ruszkiewicz. The Division II team is made up of players from NCAA Division II and NAIA institutions. (more)

EDINBORO, PA - Stephen Gammage scored a pair of touchdowns to lead Kutztown to a 14-10 win over Edinboro on Saturday in a PSAC crossover contest. The decision leaves both teams with 3-6 record, and sends Edinboro down to its sixth straight defeat. (more)

EDINBORO, PA - Edinboro University moved up one spot in the latest Football Gazette Division II Top 40 poll despite not playing this past week. The Fighting Scots debuted in the 39th position two weeks ago, then climbed one spot to 38th last week. Following last Saturday's 35-21 win at Tiffin, the Scots are now 34th. (more)

EDINBORO, PA – Edinboro held off a late Ashland rally to defeat the Eagles, 29-26. The victory boosted the Fighting Scots record to 2-0, the first time they’ve posted back-to-back victories to start a season since 1992. Ashland falls to 0-2. The win also snapped a four-game losing streak to the Eagles, and evened the series at four games apiece. (more)


[Red Ball Bullet] FIGHTING SCOTS OPEN SEASON WITH 17-7 WIN AT GANNON (8/31/02)

EDINBORO, PA -- Edinboro opened its 2002 football season with a workmanlike 17-7 triumph at Gannon on Saturday afternoon. The victory snapped a four-game losing streak for the Fighting Scots dating back to last year, and also ended a string of three straight losses in season openers. Unlike last year's 37-21 Edinboro win over the Golden Knights, the second edition in the backyard rivalry turned into a defensive battle. The Fighting Scot defensive unit limited a Gannon offense which returned nine starters from a unit that led NCAA Division II in rushing (312.9 ypg.) to just 316 total yards, including 138 on the ground. After jumping to a an early lead, the Edinboro offense turned conservative, finishing with just 192 total yards. (more)


[Red Ball Bullet] JOHN WILLIAMS SELECTED BY BRITISH COLUMBIA IN CFL DRAFT (4/27/02)

EDINBORO, PA - Edinboro University senior was chosen by the British Columbia Lions in the fourth round of the 2002 Canadian Football League College Draft on Thursday. The 6'0", 195 lb. tailback was the 31st player selected in the draft, and joins former Edinboro University performers Jeremy O'Day and Jeff Traversy in the CFL. O'Day is on Saskatchewan's roster, while Traversy plays for Calgary. (more)
