9 Ashley Cottengim Enters the season as the starting setter after assuming the role during the season the last two years ... a team leader who will serve as a co-captain ... extremely hard worker who leads by example and is vocal ... improved a great deal over the last year ... should be more aggressive in her setting, and is very good defensive player ... took over as the starter a year ago after Mallory Kam left the team, and the year before that moved from outside hitter to setter when Renee Kam went down with an injury midway through the year ... ranks fifth in career assists with 1,867 ... brother Matt played football at East Stroudsburg ... an Elementary/Special Education major with minors in literacy and science ... carries a 3.59 GPA. 2005: Took over as the starting setter early in the season and proceeded to lead the team with 1,290 assists, tied for sixth all-time ranked ninth in the PSAC in assists per game ... played in 152 games, the third-highest total in a season ... was fourth on the team in digs (354) and service aces (49) and contributed 113 kills ... had a career-high 71 assists in Halloween win over Notre Dame(OH), the sixth-highest total for a four-game match ... had 62 assists vs. East Stroudsburg and 60 against Kutztown ... had career-high 13 kills in 16 attempts against Millersville in the first round of the PSAC Playoffs ... added 12 kills in 15 tries vs. Mount Olive ... registered career-high 23 digs vs. East Stroudsburg. 2004: Served as the starting setter for a good portion of the PSAC West campaign, ending the year second in assists with 571 played in 123 games was also second on the team in digs (321) and service aces (26) recorded a season-high 63 assists against Lees-McRae, adding 15 digs had 50 assists vs. Mercyhurst had a season-high 19 digs vs. Florida Southern set school-record with 10 service aces in a three-game match vs. Cheyney. 2003: Played in 13 games as a reserve outside hitter, totaling 8 kills, 10 digs, and 10 service aces ... most of those numbers came against Cheyney, as she finished with 9 service aces ... added 8 kills and 6 digs against the Wolves. High School: A three-year starter for coach Christine Keil at Fairport High School ... the Raiders were undefeated (19-0) during regular season and won sectional championship her senior year ... earned first team all-county honors as a senior after earning second team recognition as a junior ... was named to the Monroe County All-Tournament team as a senior ... received the Jen Pasalacqua Award, given to the player who exhibits courage and determination.
