ART ARROWSMITH, 1932
Art Arrowsmith for his outstanding leadership
qualities, sportsmanship, and determination as an Edinboro
athlete. A four-year letterman in football, Art captained the 1931
and 1932 football squad, a unique honor that only one other man
had before him. An all-around athlete, Art played three seasons on
the hardwood for the Edinboro basketball team.
FRED CARO
Fred Caro for his outstanding service to Edinboro
as head wrestling coach for twenty-one years. One of only nine
coaches in Edinboro wrestling history, Fred compiled an overall
135-98-4 dual meet record. Coached in seventeen national
championships. Selected NAIA Coach of the Year in 1977 and named
to the NAIA Hall of Fame in 1985.
WILLIAM WHITEY HOFFMAN, 1932
William Whitey Hoffman for his
loyalty and dedication to the Edinboro football squad in the late
1920s. Whitey was in his glory in a rough game.
He sparked the squad to a 5-2 mark in 1929. A bruising fullback,
Hoffman was equally as tough on defense. Also a guard/forward on
the basketball squad and student government president at Edinboro.
PAUL NEWMAN, 1964
Paul Newman for his faithful support to Edinboro
athletics for eighteen years in sports information and sports
promotion. Paul is past president of the NAIA Sports Information
Directors Association. A member of the United States
Basketball and Football Writers Association of America, Paul
earned more than twenty awards for his sports publications. |
