KEVIN FOLEY, 1976
Kevin Foley for his numerous achievements in
cross country and track during the mid-1970s. Edinboros
first NCAA All-American in cross country, Foley was a three-time
All-American and two-time PSAC individual champion. Led Scots to
national championship in 1975 and 1976. Named Most Valuable
Trackman in state for the 1975 season.
DAVID GREEN, 1967
David Green for his outstanding accomplishments
in football for the Fighting Scots, Montreal Alouettes of the
Canadian Football League and the Cleveland Browns of the NFL. In
1975 and 1976, Green was named Honorable Mention All-American by
the Associated Press and to the first team of the PSAC and
District 18. Averaged 104 yards in 19 career games for Edinboro.
HOWARD HACKLEY, 1976
Howard Hackley for his outstanding achievements
on the gridiron and track for the years 1973-76. A Sox Harrison
Award winner, Hackley was a first-team NAIA All-American. Holds
school records for catches and yards in a season, TD receptions in
a season and career, total receptions and total receiving yards.
Member of AA relay team and was named All-PSAC for three
consecutive years.
JOE IACOVETTA, 1957
Joe Iacovetta for his achievements as a member of
the tennis, basketball and golf teams during the years 1952-57.
The tennis teams #1 player, Iacovetta posted a career record
of 31-4 and 33-2 as part of the #1 doubles team. Was unbeaten his
senior year, winning 15 consecutive singles matches and 20
straight doubles matches.
ROBERT RED LYTLE, 1940
Robert Red Lytle for his
accomplishments on the football field and basketball court during
the years 1937-40. A three-year letterwinner in football under the
legendary Sox Harrison, Lytle was hard-nosed on the gridiron. Also
lettered two years in basketball and helped lead Edinboro to a
fine 14-4 record during the 1940 season.
JOE SHESMAN, 1955
Joe Shesman for his outstanding contributions to
Edinboro as an athlete and football coach. Named senior Athlete
of the Year in 1955. Was a two-way starter for the football
team where he lettered four years. Shesman also lettered four
years in track. At one time, held track records in half-mile run
and mile relay team. Currently in 33rd year in the Fort LeBoeuf
School System as a teacher and coach.
JAY SPITALE, 1977
Jay Spitale for his outstanding golfing career
for the Fighting Scots during the years 1974-77. Finished his four
years with an 18-hole average of 75.1 strokes. Named first team
NCAA Division II All-American during the 1977 season and third
team AA the previous year. Was individual champion of the PSAC his
senior year and finished runner-up his sophomore and junior
season.
RICHARD YEZZI, 1956
Richard Yezzi for his all-around accomplishments
as an Edinboro athlete during the early 1950s. Lettered four-years
in football, three in track and two in basketball. A two-way
starter on the football squad, Yezzi was team captain during the
1955 season. Edinboros first Sox Harrison Award winner. In
1980, he retired after 24 years of active service as a full
Colonel in the United States Marine Corps. |
