BLAIR HROVAT
Blair Hrovat for his outstanding career as a
member of the Fighting Scot Football program. The 1985 Sox
Harrison Award winner, the Fighting Scot quarterback led Edinboro
to a 29-12 record while starting three seasons. That included a
9-2 record and PSAC West title in 1982, along with a berth in the
PSAC Championship game. He finished his career with 5,103 yards
passing and 6,070 yards in total offense, both figures in the top
five all-time. He threw for 49 TDs and had 61 total TDs. A second
team All-PSAC West selection in 1982 and 84, he threw for
1,702 yards in 1982 and 1,517 yards in 1984, with 14 TD passes
both years. In 1983, he passed for 19 TDs as Edinboro finished
with an 8-2 record.
LARRY JACKSON
Larry Jackson for his outstanding career as a
member of the Fighting Scot Football program. One of the most
prolific rushers in Edinboro history, he concluded his career with
4,237 yards, ranking second all-time. He also leads the Fighting
Scots with 42 career rushing TDs. A three-time 1,000-yard rusher,
he enjoyed his greatest season in 1994, finishing with 1,660 yards
and 15 TDs to earn third team Associated Press Little All-America
honors. He was a second team Football Gazette All-American in 94
and earned honorable mention honors in 1992 after rushing for
1,218 yards with 17 TDs. The three-time first team All-PSAC West
choice was named the PSAC West Player of the Year in 1992 and 94.
He played in the 1995 Snow Bowl, the Division II All-Star game.
BOB JAHN
Bob Jahn for his outstanding career as a member
of the Fighting Scot Football program. A first team All-PSAC
selection at wide receiver in 1977 and 1978, he led Edinboro in
receptions both seasons, including 36 for 533 yards and 6 TDs as a
senior. In three seasons he finished with 58 career receptions for
868 and 11 TDs. In 1978, he was an honorable mention Associated
Press College Division All-American, in addition to earning first
team All-ECAC Division II honors, first team NAIA District 18, and
first team Pittsburgh Press All-District. Following the completion
of his collegiate career, he signed as a free agent with the
Buffalo Bills in 1979 and the following year was in training camp
with the Kansas City Chiefs.
HARRY PAPPAS
Harry Pappas for his outstanding career as a
member of the Fighting Scot Mens Tennis program. From 1956
through 1960 he won 90 percent of his singles matches and 82
percent of his doubles matches while competing mainly at the
number one position. The top player on undefeated teams in 1958
and 1959, he would serve as the team captain in 1959 and 60.
Upon graduating from Edinboro, he has enjoyed a successful
coaching and playing career while teaching mathematics. He won the
Pacific Palisades Singles and Doubles Tournament twice, and
assisted in conducting the famous Dudley Cup Tennis Tournament in
Santa Monica, CA. He has shared his knowledge and skills in the
game of tennis with hundreds of people.
JASON PERKINS
Jason Perkins for his outstanding career as a
member of the Fighting Scot Football program. A linebacker for the
Fighting Scots from 1990-93, he was a three-time Football Gazette
All-American, earning second team honors as a senior in addition
to second team Associated Press Little All-American honors. He
finished with 139 tackles and 6 interceptions in 1993. A
three-time All-PSAC West selection, he added third team Football
Gazette All-America accolades in 1992, when he totaled 123
tackles, and was a second team choice in 1991 after finishing with
135 tackles. He was an outstanding student who was accorded second
team CoSIDA Academic All-American honors in 1993. He was chosen to
play in the 1994 Snow Bowl, the Division II All-Star game. He
ranks second in career tackles with 480.
THOMAS STANKO
Thomas Stanko for his outstanding contributions
with Edinboro University athletics. A faculty member at Edinboro
for 34 years, he joined the English department staff in 1966,
teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. He took
over as the public address announcer for the Fighting Scots
basketball teams in 1978. His interests also led to his
appointment as Edinboros faculty representative to the NCAA
and the PSAC beginning in 1988. All told, he has helped fund five
endowed scholarships to academically deserving student-athletes.
In addition to his generosity, he will always be remembered for
his distinctive call when a Fighting Scot basketball player hit a
three-pointer THREEEEE!!!!!!!
STERLING WASHINGTON
Sterling Washington for his outstanding career as
a member of the Fighting Scot Mens Basketball program. After
serving in the Army, he played three seasons at Edinboro scoring
931 points and pulling down 526 rebounds. As a senior in 1990-91,
he was a first team All-PSAC West selection after averaging 17.4
ppg. and 8.5 rpg., with 75 steals. He was recognized as an
outstanding defensive performer, finishing his career with 161
steals and blocking 83 shots. Edinboro had a 54-27 record during
his three seasons, including 22-5 in 1989-90. Following
graduation, he was hired as an assistant coach at Edinboro. |
