EDINBORO, PA Edinboro University senior
Greg MacAnn (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) has been named
the PSAC West Defensive Player of the week following the
Shippensburg contest. MacAnn spearheaded a strong defensive effort
that led to a 16-0 win over the Red Raiders as Edinboro opened
PSAC West action.
A 64, 226 lb. defensive end, MacAnn
finished with six tackles, including three for losses of 13 yards
and a sack. He also blocked a 23-yard field goal attempt in the
first quarter which would have given Shippensburg a 3-0 lead.
The Edinboro defense limited Shippensburg to
188 total yards, and just 68 on the ground. The shutout was the
second this season for the Fighting Scots. The last time an
Edinboro team had two shutouts in a season was 1980.
MacAnn has 13 tackles on the season, tied for
fourth on the team. He is second in tackles for losses (5.5) and
has 1.5 sacks.
The Fighting Scots, now 3-1 overall and ranked
21st by the AFCA and 11th by D2Football.com, will celebrate
Homecoming this Saturday, October 1 against Clarion. Kickoff is
2:00 p.m. |
