EDINBORO, PA – Gannon’s Courtney
Rowan scored just 12:23 into the match and Tiffani Parks made the
goal stand up as the Lady Knights handed Edinboro a 1-0 defeat in
women’s soccer on Wednesday. Edinboro was making its 2005
debut at home.
Edinboro, ranked seventh in the NSCAA Division
II Northeast Region, saw its modest two-game winning streak come
to an end. The Fighting Scots are now 4-3-1. Gannon not only
snapped a three-game losing streak, but also snapped a two-game
skid in the all-time series with Edinboro. The Lady Knights are
2-3-1 and lead the all-time series 6-3-0.
Rowan, a freshman midfielder, scored off a free
kick from the left wing from 25 yards out, just getting over
Edinboro goalkeeper Trish Chilcott (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek).
Parks picked up her first win in goal this season, as the
sophomore recorded three saves. She was particularly tested early
in the second half.
Gannon held a 13-9 advantage in shots. Chilcott
finished with five saves.
Edinboro returns to action on Saturday,
September 17, hosting Slippery Rock in a 12 noon match. The Rock
is 2-2-1. |
