EDINBORO, PA- The Edinboro University football
team ranks in the top 30 for eight statistical categories in the
latest NCAA Division II rankings. Adding to their defensive
domination, the Fighting Scots jumped three spots to claim the
number one ranking for defense, holding opponents to just 173.6
yards per game.
The Fighting Scots also maintained the top
ranking for rushing defense, giving up only 40.8 yards per game.
Edinboro moved up one spot to third for pass efficiency defense
(78.4 ypg) and moved up two spots to second for turnover margin
(+2.4). The Fighting Scots hold onto third for scoring defense
(6.0 ppg).
On the other side of the ball, the Fighting
Scots offense now ranks 28th in the nation, scoring 34.0 points
per game. The rushing offense moves up three spots to 16th,
gaining 228.2 yards per game, while team kickoff returns remains
ranked 20th netting 24.43 yards per kickoff.
Additionally, five players rank among the NCAA
Division II statistical leaders.
Senior cornerback Chris Avery (Berea,
OH/Berea) ranks 15th in interceptions, averaging 0.8 picks per
game. Avery leads the team with four interceptions and has
recorded 17 career interceptions, just two shy of the all-time
record held by Steve Russell (1991-94).
Redshirt freshman Ulysee Davis (Bryans
Road, MD/Bishop McNamara) ranks 25th in rushing and 40th in
scoring. The 59 tailback averages 111.0 yards and 8.4
points per game. Davis has scored a team-leading seven touchdowns.
Kody Robertson (Columbus, OH/Hilliard Davidson) is 19th in
the nation, averaging 1.2 field goals per contest. Meanwhile,
quarterback Justin Bouch (Brackenridge, PA/Highlands) and
Greg MacAnn (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) find their way
into this weeks rankings. Bouch ranks 48th for passing
efficiency (127.9) and MacAnn ranks 27th for tackles for loss (1.6
pg).
The Fighting Scots (4-1) travel to California
(Pa.) this Saturday, October 8. Kick-off is set for 3 p.m.
