EDINBORO, PA – Ashley Pulman (LaSalle, ONT/Sandwich Secondary) and Angie de Almeida (Gibsonia, PA/Pine-Richland) scored two goals apiece to lead Edinboro to a 5-3 win over Clarion on Wednesday. The Fighting Scots, ranked eighth in the NCAA Division II Northeast Region, improve to 6-5-2 overall and 4-1-1 in PSAC West action. Clarion falls to 2-11-0 overall and 0-7-0 in league play.

Pulman scored two goals for the second straight game, and also assisted on de Almeida’s first goal, giving her 7 goals and 3 assists for the year. But while Edinboro scored a season-high five goals, it was Clarion that took the early lead. The Golden Eagles scored just 1:55 into the match as Jayme Violi headed in a crossing pass from Aimee Zellers.

The Fighting Scots knotted the score just over a minute later, and proceeded to score three goals in less than 11 minutes. de Almeida opened the scoring off a pass from Pulman to tie the match at 1-1 just 3:06 into the contest. Then it was Pulman with back-to-back goals, both assisted by Elise Falatach (Bay Village, OH/Bay). The first came on a breakaway at the 11:50 mark, and the second just 35 seconds later at 12:55.

Clarion closed the gap to 3-2 at the half as Nicole Scott headed in a corner kick at 40:25. The assist went to Jessie Zahner.

Edinboro boosted the margin 4-2 early in the second half on de Almeida’s second goal, this one a breakaway at the 52:09 mark. Mary Grebenc (Strongsville, OH/Strongsville) was credited with the assist. The Fighting Scots went up 5-2 on a penalty kick by Falatach at 75:16.

Courtney Clifford accounted for Clarion’s final goal at the 82:45 mark.

Edinboro held an 18-12 edge in shots. Trish Chilcott (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) was in goal in the first half for the Fighting Scots, with Lisa Bartolowits (Pittsburgh, PA/Shaler Area) taking over in the second half.
