Amico Named PSAC West Defensive Player of Week

EDINBORO, PA – Edinboro University defensive tackle Chris Amico (Webster, NY/West Irondequoit) has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Edinboro’s 24-7 win over Slippery Rock.

A 6'0", 250 lb. sophomore, Amico keyed a defensive effort that saw the Fighting Scots hold Slippery Rock to 240 total yards and account for two touchdowns. In addition, the defense forced five turnovers and recorded nine sacks.

Amico led the way with a career-high 12 tackles, with 3.5 tackles for losses totaling 18 yards. He had a pair of sacks for minus 12 yards. Slippery Rock came into the game averaging 212.0 ypg. rushing, good for 24th in Division II, but was limited to 79 yards on the ground.

Amico ranks fifth on the team in tackles with 36. He is second on the team in tackles for losses with 11, and ranks first in sacks (6).
