EDINBORO, PA The Edinboro University
volleyball team posted a key PSAC West win on Tuesday night with a
30-17, 30-27, 30-15 sweep of Slippery Rock. The victory left
Edinboro with a 20-14 record in its first season under head coach
Missy Soboleski.
The Fighting Scots have won 13 of their last 15
matches after starting out with a 7-12 record. The win boosted
Edinboros record to 2-6 in the PSAC West. Slippery Rock is
now 23-7 overall and 4-4 in the PSAC West.
Jenna Newman (Reno, NV/Coronado) led
Edinboro with 10 kills, with Tiffany Trgovac (Irvine,
CA/Irvine), Alicia Knouff (Louisville, OH/Louisville)
and Breanna Smith (North Canton, OH/Hoover) adding 9 kills
apiece. Knouff added 9 block assists, a new school record for
block assists in a three-game match. Eight was the previous
record, accomplished five times.
That wasnt the only record set. Amelia
Robinson (Amherst, OH/Marion L. Steele) had 5 service aces,
giving her 75 service aces for the season. That breaks the
previous record of 74 set by Rosie Weisenseel in 1996.
Edinboro returns to action on Thursday, October
27, hosting Malone in a 7:00 p.m. match.
