Complete Box Score

EDINBORO, PA – The Edinboro University volleyball team posted a key PSAC West win on Tuesday night with a 30-17, 30-27, 30-15 sweep of Slippery Rock. The victory left Edinboro with a 20-14 record in its first season under head coach Missy Soboleski.

The Fighting Scots have won 13 of their last 15 matches after starting out with a 7-12 record. The win boosted Edinboro’s record to 2-6 in the PSAC West. Slippery Rock is now 23-7 overall and 4-4 in the PSAC West.

Jenna Newman (Reno, NV/Coronado) led Edinboro with 10 kills, with Tiffany Trgovac (Irvine, CA/Irvine), Alicia Knouff (Louisville, OH/Louisville) and Breanna Smith (North Canton, OH/Hoover) adding 9 kills apiece. Knouff added 9 block assists, a new school record for block assists in a three-game match. Eight was the previous record, accomplished five times.

That wasn’t the only record set. Amelia Robinson (Amherst, OH/Marion L. Steele) had 5 service aces, giving her 75 service aces for the season. That breaks the previous record of 74 set by Rosie Weisenseel in 1996.

Edinboro returns to action on Thursday, October 27, hosting Malone in a 7:00 p.m. match.
