EDINBORO, PA – The Edinboro University
volleyball team made it six wins in its last seven matches with a
27-30, 30-23, 30-20, 30-18 win over visiting Malone on Thursday.
The victory boosted the Fighting Scots to 21-14, while the
Pioneers fall to 14-19.
The middle hitter tandem of Alicia Knouff
(Louisville, OH/Louisville) and Jenn Newman (Reno,
NV/Coronado) paced the Fighting Scots. Knouff had 20 kills,
one off her season-high, including nine in the fourth game. The 6’1”
senior added 4 service aces, a block solo and 5 block assists.
Newman, a 5’11” sophomore,
contributed eight of her 16 kills in the third game, and also had
4 service aces.
Breanna Smith (North Canton, OH/Hoover)
added 11 kills. Ashley Cottengim (Fairport, NY/ Fairport) had
45 assists and 8 digs, with Michelle Bator (West Middlesex,
PA/West Middlesex) contributing 14 digs.
Edinboro returns to action on Monday, October
31 with a Halloween match against Notre Dame(OH).
