Men Women
(LOCK HAVEN, PA)---Edinboro University sprinted
to the men's and women's NCAA Division II East Region cross
country championships. EU won a narrow 59-69 victory over host
Lock Haven in the men's event, while the Scots placed four runners
in the top eight to coast past Indiana (PA) 33-98 in the women's
meet.
The men's team was paced by Jared Lowry (31:43)
who finished fourth, and Ryan Coon (31:46), in fifth place.
The women were led by second-place finisher
Rachael Lanzel (21:24) and Julie Nemergut (21:49) who was right
behind in third.
Slippery Rock's Jeff Weiss was the individual
men's champion, and Mindy Sawtelle (IUP) was the women's champion.
Both cross country squads will be preparing for
the NCAA National Championships to be held in Chino, CA, Nov. 19.
