EDINBORO, PA Edinboro University
sophomore Brooke Heath (Woodstock, ONT/ Ingersoll District
C.I.) has been named the CollegeSwimming.com National
Collegiate NCAA Division II Womens Swimmer of the week for
her performance in this past weekends meet with Kutztown and
Mansfield. The Fighting Scots picked up a pair of wins to improve
to 3-2, defeating Kutztown, 64-58, and Mansfield, 91-31.
Heath posted an NCAA A qualifying
time of 2:21.68 in the 200-yard breaststroke, and her time of
2:11.07 in the 200-yard IM was good for an NCAA B
qualifying time. She also placed first in the 200-yard butterfly
(2:14.540 and was a member of the winning 200-yard medley relay
team (1L53.69), giving her four first places in all.
As a freshman Heath became Edinboros
first All-American since 1994-95. She placed third in the 200-yard
breaststroke and fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke at Nationals
to earn All-American honors in both events, and was an honorable
mention All-American in the 200-yard IM with an 11th place finish.
Heath was the PSAC champion in the 200-yard breaststroke and third
in the 100-yard breaststroke. She was later named the PSAC Rookie
of the Year. Heath set school records in the 100 and 200-yard
breaststroke events and the 200-yard IM. |
