EDINBORO, PA Former Edinboro University
mens basketball standout Jakim Donaldson (Pittsburgh,
PA/Oliver) is off to a very successful start to his
professional basketball career. Playing for the Barreirense team,
a member of the top professional league in Portugal, Donaldson has
put up some impressive numbers leading to a spot on the leagues
all-star team.
In addition, the 68 center/forward
was recently named to the LCB First Team of the Month for the
month of November. The team featured Miguel Minhava, Reggie Moore,
who played his college ball at Oral Roberts, Heshimu Evans, a
former player at Kentucky, and Jarrett Stephens of Penn State.
Donaldson is currently averaging 14.0 ppg. and
8.9 rpg. while shooting 57.1 percent from the floor and 69.8
percent from the line. He adds 2.1 assists, 2.1 blocks and 1.4
steals per game.
A year ago Donaldson was an NABC All-American,
a first team Basketball Times All-American, a first team
Daktronics All-American, and a second team Division II Bulletin
All-American. He averaged a double-double for the third straight
year at 16.3 ppg. and 13.1 rpg., helping Edinboro to a 24-7
record, the PSAC Championship, and a berth in the NCAA Division II
East Regional.
He concluded a career in which he went from a
walk-on to an All-American ranking first in career rebounds with
1,100, and eighth in career scoring with 1,355 points. He is one
of only 17 players in PSAC history to score 1,000 points and pull
down 1,000 rebounds.
