EDINBORO, PA The Edinboro University mens
basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak with a lopsided
97-43 win over outmatched Penn State New Kensington on Wednesday.
The Fighting Scots are now 7-6 heading into a weekend trip to the
east for a pair of PSAC crossover games.
The Scots play at Kutztown on Saturday, January
14 and are at West Chester on Sunday, January 15.
All eleven players scored for the Fighting
Scots as no one played more than 20 minutes in the contest, and
Edinboro led from start to finish. Curtis Ingram (Youngstown,
OH/Cardinal Mooney) led a trip of players in double figures
with 20 points, matching his career high. The 63
junior made 7 of 14 field goals and was 5 of 5 from the line while
playing just 18 minutes. Chris Ravello (Odenton, MD/Archbishop
Spalding) added 17 points on 7 of 9 shooting from the floor,
including a pair of three-pointers. Dan Grabill (Edinboro,
PA/General McLane) came off the bench to score a season-high
10 points.
Edinboro held a wide 50-27 lead on the boards,
with Ryan McLemore (Garfield Heights, OH/St. Peter Chanel)
pulling down a career-high 12 rebounds and Daren Tielsch
(McKees Rocks, PA/Montour) adding 11 boards. McLemore added
five blocked shots.
The Fighting Scots shot 52.0 percent from the
floor, including 55.6 percent in the second half when they
outscored the Lions 49-16.
Penn State New Kensington shot 28.8 percent,
including 18.5 percent in the second half, and was guilty of 26
turnovers which led to 36 Edinboro points.
Edinboro outscored the Lions in the paint,
58-10.
