Three Fighting Scots Rank Among NCAA Basketball Leaders
Iorfido Ranked Number One in Division II in Assists
January 18, 2006

EDINBORO, PA – Several Edinboro University basketball players are ranked in the latest NCAA Division II statistical leaders. Leading the way is senior Callie Iorfido (Ambridge, PA/ Ambridge), who leads the country in assists and is ranked third in steals. Iorfido has helped the women’s basketball team to a 12-3 record heading into tonight’s PSAC West opener at Slippery Rock. The men’s basketball team has a 9-6 record going into this evening’s contest.

Iorfido has 136 assists, good for 9.7 apg., tops in Division II. The 5’5” guard has boosted her career total to 569 assists. In addition, she leads Edinboro and the PSAC in steals with 60. Her average of 4.3 spg. ranks third. Iorfido has moved up to fourth all-time in career steals with 248.

In addition to Iorfido, Agnes Michalow (Krakow, Poland/Krakow #32) is ranked 22nd in blocked shots with an average of 2.3 per game. The 6’3” junior has blocked 34 shots.

Daren Tielsch (McKees Rocks, PA/Montour) is the lone member of the men’s team in the national rankings. The 6’8” senior is averaging a PSAC-leading 10.4 rebounds per game, good for sixth in Division II.
