Four Fighting Scots Rank Among NCAA Basketball Leader
Iorfido Remains Number One in Division II in Assists
January 25, 2006

EDINBORO, PA – Several Edinboro University athletes are getting recognition among the latest NCAA Division II statistical leaders. Senior guard Callie Iorfido (Ambridge, PA/Ambridge) still leads the country in assists and is ranked fifth in steals. Iorfido has 149 assists so far this season, averaging 9.3 apg., good enough for first in Division II.

Along with Iorfido, Agnes Michalow (Krakow, Poland/Krakow #32) is ranked 16th in blocked shots, averaging 2.4 per game. The 6’3” junior moved up six spots from last week when she was ranked 22nd. Iorfido and Michalow have helped the women’s basketball team to a 13-4 overall record and 1-1 in the PSAC West. The Fighting Scots will face IUP tonight at 5:30 p.m.

There are also two Edinboro men ranked among the top in nation. Senior Daren Tielsch (McKees Rock, PA/Montour) is averaging 9.7 rebounds per game, which is good for 13th in Division II. Ryan McLemore (Garfield Heights, OH/St. Peter Chanel) joins Tielsch in the rankings this week ranked 19th in the country in blocked shots. The 6’8” forward is averaging 2.2 blocks per game and leads the Fighting Scots with 37 blocks. The men’s basketball team is 11-6 overall and 2-0 in the PSAC West and will face IUP tonight at 7:30 p.m.
