Complete Box Score

EDINBORO, PA – The Lock Haven defense had no answer from Daren Tielsch (McKees Rocks, PA/Montour) on Saturday, as the Edinboro senior dropped in a career-high 37 points to lead the Fighting Scots to a 91-82 win at Lock Haven. Edinboro has now won seven straight games to improve to 13-6 and 4-0 in PSAC West action. Lock Haven falls to 3-16 overall and 1-4 in the conference.

Edinboro grabbed the lead for good with five minutes gone in the first half, but were never able to shake the Bald Eagles. The Fighting Scots would lead by nine at the half, 45-36, as Tielsch scored 24 points while making 11 of 15 field goals. The lead ballooned to 59-45 with 15:45 to play on a Torry Mitchell (Erie, PA/Central), but the Bald Eagles came within three points with 7:23 to play at 70-67. A 7-0 run, with Tielsch scoring the first five points, ended the LHU comeback hopes.

Edinboro shot 55.7 percent from the floor for the game, including a sizzling 59.3 percent in the second half. Lock Haven wasn’t far off at 50.0 percent for the game and 54.5 percent in the second half.

Tielsch’s 37 points are the most by an Edinboro player since Blake Johnson dropped in 41 points against Shippensburg in 2001-01. The 6’8” senior made 15 of 26 field goals, including his lone three-point attempt, and was 6 of 10 from the line. With 10 rebounds, he finished with his 11th double-double.

Mitchell added 21 points and 5 assists, making 7 of 9 field goals and 5 of 7 free throws. Curtis Ingram (Youngstown, OH/Cardinal Mooney) and Justin Moore (Canonsburg, PA/Canon-McMillan) were also in double figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Edinboro returns to action on Wednesday, February 1, hosting Clarion. Tipoff is 7:30 p.m.
