EDINBORO, PA The Edinboro University mens
and womens outdoor track & field teams turned in a
strong showing at the Wooster Invitational on Saturday. The womens
team finished fourth out of 10 teams, while the Fighting Scots mens
team captured fifth place out of eight teams. Case Western Reserve
captured first place in both events.
Edinboro competitors took home five first
places on the mens side and three on the womens side.
Leading the way for the men was Kyle Wunz, who won both the
200-meter dash and 400-meter dash. His winning time in the 200 was
21.88, and in the 400 it was 49.02. Travis Prejean won the
800-meter run with a time of 1:57.49, while teammate Fez Gorski
was fourth (2:02.67).
David Bland led a group of five Edinboro
runners in the top ten of the 1500-meter run. Bland crossed the
finish line first with a time of 4:09.30. Fighting Scot runners
then occupied spots seven through ten, with Dan Field seventh
(4:13.72), Josh Arthur eighth (4:15.81), Jeremy Boehm ninth
(4:15.82), John Moneyhon tenth (4:17.56).
The final first place finisher for the mens
team was Franklin Durabossa. Durabossa brought home first place in
the long jump with a jump of 217, in addition to
finishing fourth in the 100-meter dash (11.73). Calvin Singleton
joined Durabossa in the long jump, placing sixth (188 ½).
Ben Fenell added a third place finish in the
javelin, with a throw of 41.0 meters.
On the womens side, Kristen Malloy
brought home first place in the long jump (1511 ¾)
and was second in the high jump with a jump of 47 ¾.
She added a third place finish in the 100-meter hurdles with a
time of 16.05.
Michele Kelly continued her impressive running,
capturing the 800-meter run with a time of 2:22.96. Sara Lee Baker
placed fourth in the event (2:33.99). Edinboros third first
place finisher on the womens side was Ashley Highfield, who
captured the title in the javelin with a throw of 35.35 meters.
The Fighting Scots took one-two in the event as Ashley Argenta was
second (32.51 meters).
Three Fighting Scots finished in the top five
in the 1500-meter run. Kelly Richards placed second with a time of
5:03.20, while Ashley Ferraro was fourth (5:09.47) and Baker fifth
(5:12.03). Katie McKendrick added a fourth place finish in the
discus with a throw of 1124. |
