EDINBORO, PA-- The Edinboro University women's
soccer team improved to 2-1 with its second straight win on Friday
while competing in the Millersville Tournament. The Fighting Scots
exploded for three first half goals to hand Millersville a 4-0
shutout.
The Fighting Scots jumped out to kick lead just
11:19 into the match when Ashley Pulman scored her first goal of
the season. A pair of freshman then scored their first careergoals
to make it 3-0 at halftime. Maria Dembrow scored at the 27:46 mark
to make it 2-0, and Emily Leone followed with a goal at the 40:35
mark.
Angie de Almeida accounted for Edinboro's final
score on a penalty kick at 68:45. The junior has now scored six
goals in three games.
Lisa Bartolowits picked up her first career win
and first career shutout in goal. The sophomore did not have to
make a save as Edinboro outshot the Marauders by a wide 21-1.
Edinboro is back in action on Saturday, playing
Philadelphia at 12 noon.
