EDINBORO, PA – Edinboro University junior
Angie de Almeida (Gibsonia, PA/Pine- Richland) has
been named the PSAC West Player of the Week for the period ending
September 3. Edinboro is off to a 3-1 start after winning a pair
of matches this past week. The Fighting Scots won both matches in
the Millersville Tournament, defeating Millersville, 4-0, and
Philadelphia, 1-0.
With this being the first week of PSAC awards,
the period included all four of Edinboro’s matches. de
Almeida, a junior forward, is off to a fast start with 7 goals and
an assist for 15 points. She scored at least two goals in each of
the first three matches before being held scoreless by
Philadelphia.
de Almeida opened the season with a pair of
goals in Edinboro’s 3-2 loss to Shippensburg. She then
contributed 3 goals in a 4-2 win over California(Pa.) in the PSAC
West opener, then scored twice in the win at Millersville.
The goal-scoring spree has boosted de Almeida
in the Edinboro career statistics. She has moved into a tie for
fourth in career goals scored with 19, and is sixth in career
points (45).
Edinboro is back in action on Wednesday,
September 6, playing at Slippery Rock. |
