EDINBORO, PA – The Edinboro University
women’s soccer team snapped a two-game losing skid with a 1-0
win over Clarion on Saturday. The victory boosted the Fighting
Scots to 4-3-0 overall and 2-2-0 in the PSAC West, while Clarion
falls to 4-4-0 and 1-3-0, respectively.
Ashley Jones (Erie, PA/Fairview)
accounted for the lone goal of the game when she scored off a free
kick at the 34:39 mark. It was the sophomore sweeper’s third
goal of the season.
Samantha Cairns (Natrona Heights,
PA/Highlands) made the goal stand up, as the freshman
registered her first career shutout in goal. She recorded seven
saves as Edinboro held a 15-7 advantage in shots.
The Fighting Scots are back in action on
Monday, September 18, playing another key PSAC West contest at
Lock Haven. That match gets underway at 4:00 p.m.
