EDINBORO, PA – Thanks to an early morning
snowfall the Edinboro women’s soccer field had to be plowed
off before the game. A cold wind and temperatures in the low 40’s
didn’t help matters, but the Fighting Scots didn’t let
it bother them as they handed visiting Millersville a 2-0 defeat
on Saturday.
Edinboro has now won two straight matches to
even its record at 7-7-0. The Marauders fall to 2-11-1.
Neither team could manage a goal in the first
half, but the Fighting Scots finally broke the ice with a goal at
the 51:16 mark. Freshman Emily Leone (Erie, PA/McDowell)
scored her second goal of the season, assisted by Kim Koricich
(Edinboro, PA/General McLane).
Edinboro was able to come up with an insurance
goal with just 1:28 left in the match when Ashley Jones (Erie,
PA/Fairview) tallied her fourth goal of the season.
The Fighting Scots held a 12-6 advantage in
shots. Sophomore Lisa Bartolowits (Pittsburgh, PA/Shaler Area)
recorded four saves to pick up her fourth shutout of the season.
Edinboro returns to action on Tuesday, October
17, hosting Lock Haven in a 3:00 p.m. match. |
