EDINBORO, PA Edinboro strong safety Damion
Malott (Akron, OH/Akron North) has been named the PSAC West
Defensive Player of the Game for his performance in Saturdays
51-25 win at Lock Haven. The victory helped the Fighting Scots
finish the season with a 6-5 record under first-year coach Scott
Browning.
Malott, a 510, 181 lb. senior, came
up with three turnovers in addition registering 6 tackles, all
solo. With Edinboro leading 7-0 early in the game, he intercepted
a Bald Eagle pass and returned it 41 yards to set up another
touchdown. On the next series, he forced a fumble and recovered it
at the Lock Haven 37. two plays later Edinboro scored to go up
21-0. He would later intercept a second pass.
Malott completed his final season as a Fighting
Scot with 62 tackles, good for fourth on the team. He tied for the
team lead in interceptions with 4, and also ranks in the top five
in Division II in forced fumbles (5). |
