EDINBORO, PA A number of Edinboro
University mens and womens swimmers turned in strong
performances in the final two days of the Ashland Invitational.
Foremost was a school-record performance in the 200-yard medley
relay.
The quartet of Desiree Thomas, Brooke
Heath, Amy Corbran, and Samantha Sustrich combined for a
school-record time of 1:50.58 in the finals, good for third place.
They had initially set the record in the preliminaries.
Heath also captured her second first place
finish with an NCAA A qualifying time 1:05.68 in the 100-yard
breaststroke. The junior had previously won the 200-yard
breaststroke. She made it three on Sunday with a first place
finish in the 200-yard IM with an NCAA A qualifying
time of 2:07.32.
The mens 200-yard medley relay team
brought home fourth place with a time of 1:39.02. The team was
made up of Brandon Davidson, Derek Sapp, Jon Williams, and Kyle
Pittman.
In the womens 100-yard butterfly, Corbran
was fourth with a time of 1:01.32. She would a fourth place in the
50-yard freestyle (25.00). Sapp took fourth place in the 100-yard
breaststroke (1:00.80). Another fourth place finish came from
Davidson, who was fourth in the 100-yard backstroke (54.34). Julie
Ford was fourth in the 500-yard freestyle, with a time of 5:21.10.
