EDINBORO, PA – Edinboro University senior
Daren Tielsch (McKees Rocks, PA/Montour) has been named
the PSAC West Player of the Week for the week concluding January
21. It marks the second time the league has recognized Tielsch
this year.
The 6’8” forward led the Fighting
Scots to a pair of wins this past week, as Edinboro improved to
12-5 overall and 3-0 in the PSAC West. He averaged 22.0 ppg. and
6.0 rpg. while shooting 61.3 percent from the floor (19 of 31).
Tielsch opened the week with 25 points in an
87-59 win over Slippery Rock. He made 11 of 17 field goals and was
3 of 5 at the line. He added 3 rebounds and 3 steals. Next came a
19-point, 9-rebound effort in a 63-51 road win at Indiana(Pa.),
falling a rebound shy of his tenth double-double. He accounted for
13 of his points in the second half as Edinboro rallied from a
two-point halftime deficit. In addition, he contributed an assist
and 3 blocked shots.
Tielsch leads the Fighting Scots in both
scoring (17.0 ppg.) and rebounding (10.3 rpg.), ranking sixth in
the PSAC in scoring and first in rebounding. He is shooting 51.8
percent from the floor.
While just in his third season as a Fighting
Scot, Tielsch has moved up to 15th place in career scoring (1,187
points) and rebounds (642).
