Joseph Jones (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) has been named the
PSAC West Player of the Week for the period ending February 18.
Jones helped the Fighting Scots clinch a spot in the PSAC Playoffs
with a 92-73 win over Lock Haven on Saturday. That left the
Fighting Scots with a 17-8 record, including 7-3 in the PSAC West.
A 62 guard, Jones scored a
game-high 28 points, four shy of his career-high. Edinboro led
39-34 at the half in no small part to the sophomores play.
Jones scored 21 of his 28 points in the first twenty minutes,
including a string of 11 straight at one point.
Jones ended the day making 9 of 17 field goals,
including 6 of 9 three-pointers, and was 4 of 6 at the free throw
line. He added 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and a blocked shot.
A transfer from Roberts Wesleyan in his first
season at Edinboro, Jones stands second in scoring at 12.9 ppg.,
and has emerged as the Boros top three-point threat with 39
in 113 attempts. He also leads the team in assists (100) and
steals (46).
Edinboro returns to action on Wednesday,
February 21, hosting Clarion. |
