EDINBORO, PA Edinboro University
freshman Samantha Reimer (Altoona, PA/Altoona) has been
named the PSAC West Rookie of the Week for the period ending
February 18. Reimer helped the Fighting Scots split a pair of
weekend contests, leaving Edinboro with a 13-12 record overall,
and 5-5 in the PSAC West.
A 57 guard from Altoona, PA, Reimer
came off the bench and led the Fighting Scots with 23 points in a
crucial 78-56 win over Lock Haven on Saturday. She hit a long
three-pointer just before the half to give the Boro the lead for
good, then scored 17 of her points in the second half. She made 5
of 12 field goals, including 3 of 5 three-pointers, and was 10 of
12 from the foul line. In addition, she finished with a
career-high 7 rebounds.
Edinboro suffered a 73-65 loss at
Pitt-Johnstown on Sunday, with Reimer contributing 14 points. She
was 4 of 11 from the field, going 1 of 7 on threes, and was
a perfect 5-for-5 at the line.
Reimer is currently Edinboros
second-leading scorer, averaging 13.5 ppg. With 337 points, she
has scored more points than any freshman since Jessica Rowe scored
394 points in 1996-97. In addition, she is second on the team in
assists with 64.
Edinboro returns to action on Wednesday,
February 21, hosting Clarion.
