EDINBORO, PA The Edinboro University
Athletic Department held its 18th-Annual Scholar-Athlete Banquet
on Tuesday, February 20. The event was held in the Van Houten
Dining Hall, and was attended by over 200 individuals.

was the guest speaker at the banquet. |
The Scholar-Athlete Banquet recognizes all
Edinboro student-athletes who maintain a grade point average of
3.0 or better. A total of 112 Fighting Scot student-athletes were
honored, or 37 percent of the student-athlete population. All of
the Fighting Scot programs were well-represented, but one team
stood out above all others. The womens soccer team had 20 of
its 23 team members achieve scholar-athlete status.
A total of 13 student-athletes were recognized
for being either four-year or five-year scholar-athletes. The
four-year Scholar-Athletes included Ashley Cottengim, Mike
Cradduck, Matt Hill, Mike LaBella, Joe Malizia, Davie Niemira,
Zach Plerhoples, Amelia Robinson, Donald Walker, and Heather
Wilmoth. The three five-year Scholar-Athletes were Alex Clemsen,
Julie Nemergut, and .
Dr. Kenneth Felker, the chairman of the Health &
Physical Education Department, was the guest speaker. Edinboro
University President Dr. Frank G. Pogue also addressed the
attendees, who included the Scholar-Athletes plus invited faculty
member members and guests. Other special guests included Dr. Pearl
Bartelt, University Provost, and Dr. Gerry Kiel, the
Vice-President for Student Affairs and Student Services.
