EDINBORO, PA – The Edinboro University men’s and women’s swimming teams completed a strong showing at the PSAC Swimming Championships with a pair of All-PSAC performances. When the four-day championships were completed, the men’s team was in fifth place out of seven teams, while the women’s team placed sixth out of 13 teams. The PSAC Championships were held at Cumberland Valley High School in Mechanicsburg, PA.

The women’s team finished with 253 points. On the men’s side, Edinboro had 278 points, just two points behind fourth place Kutztown.

Brooke Heath turned in her third All-PSAC performance in the 200-yard breaststroke, at the same time picking up her third second-place finish. The junior finished with an NCAA “A” cut time of 2:21.19. West Chester’s Kathrin Dumitru was the winner with a meet record time of 2:17.22 Whitney Henry also scored points for the Fighting Scots in the event, finishing ninth with a time of 2:26.66, an NCAA “B” cut time.

Freshman Derek Sapp picked up All-PSAC honors on the men’s side with a third place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke. Sapp’s time was 2:11.64.

Kyle Pittman reached the finals in the 200-yard backstroke, placing sixth with a time of 1:57.93. Brandon Davidson added a tenth place finish with a time of 1:59.39.

The championships closed with the 400-yard freestyle relay, and both teams finished strong. The men’s team brought home fourth place, narrowly missing picking up enough points to catch Kutztown for fourth place overall. The Golden Bears were fifth in the event, and picked up 28 points to Edinboro’s 30. The Fighting Scot foursome of Alex Drake, Sapp, Davidson and Pittman finished with a time of 3:15.03.

The women’s team in the same event was fifth. The foursome consisted of Amy Corbran, Desiree’ Thomas, Samantha Sustrich and Heath, and had a time of 3:36.99.

WOMEN

  • 1650-Yard Freestyle – Julie Ford – 10th (18:14.95)
  • 200-Yard Backstroke – Jamie Tiano – 12th (2:15.83)
  • 100-Yard Freestyle – Desiree’ Thomas – 15th (54.77)
  • 200-Yard Butterfly – Martha Kulic – 15th (2:20.55)

MEN

  • 1650-Yard Freestyle – Nick Whiteman – 10th (17:05.56)
  • Greg Roberts – 14th (17:26.30)
  • Ben Frable – 16th (17:55.92)
  • 200-Yard Breaststroke – Jacob Graham – 14th (2:19.24)
