Day 2
EDINBORO, PA Edinboro Universitys
Brooke Heath concluded another brilliant showing at the NCAA
Division II Swimming & Diving National Championships. The
junior finished second in the 200-yard breaststroke for the second
year in a row to finish as a three-time All-American for the
second consecutive year.
The Nationals concluded this evening at the
Flickinger Athletic Center in Buffalo, NY. Edinboro finished 20th
after back-to-back 19th-place finishes, all due solely to Heath.
After putting up the third-best time in the
preliminaries with a time of 2:02.01, she came back with a faster
time in the finals, posting a time of 2:19.35. That was bettered
only by West Chesters Kathrin Dumtru, who won the event a
year ago, as well. Dumitrus time was 2:16.70.
Heath earlier finished fourth in the 100-yard
breaststroke, and was sixth in the 200-yard IM.
This marks the eighth All-American honor for
Heath. A year ago she finished second in both the 100 and 200-yard
breaststroke events and was fifth in the 200-yard IM. As a
freshman, she was third in the 200-yard breaststroke and fourth in
the 100-yard breaststroke. She fell just shy of All-American
honors in the 200-yard IM, placing eleventh.
