EDINBORO, PA – The Edinboro University
track & field team competed in the Wooster Invitational on
Saturday, with the men’s team finishing seventh out of 11
teams and the women’s team bringing home eighth place out of
12 teams.
The Fighting Scots captured first place in a
total of five events, including four on the men’s side. Phil
Cannata finished first in the 800-meter run, with Richard Gorski
finishing third. David Blend crossed the finish line first in the
1500-meter run, while Franklin Duruobasa was first in the long
jump. Finally, the Fighting Scots captured first and second place
in the javelin, with Mike Castiglione placing first and Ben Fenell
second.
On the women’s side, Erica Bourgeois was
the winner of the 5000-meter run. Kristine Beringer placed second
in the 3000-meter steeplechase. The Fighting Scots also received a
second and third in the javelin, with Ashlee Highfield second and
Ashley Argenta third.
