Official Press Release

Witucki Named to Lindy’s Preseason All-American Team
Senior Tight End Earns Spot on Second Team
June 12, 2007

EDINBORO, PA – Edinboro University senior Kyle Witucki (Tarentum, PA/Highlands) has been named to Lindy’s College Football Preview 2007 Preseason Division II All-American Team. Witucki was one of five players from the PSAC to earn preseason All-American honors.

Witucki received plenty of recognition a year ago in his first season as a starter. The 6’3”, 255 lb. tight end was accorded second team Daktronics All-American honors and was an honorable mention All-American choice by D2Football.com and Football Gazette.

Witucki also earned first team All-PSAC West honors after hauling in 31 passes for 455 yards with 5 TDs. He caught at least one pass in all but one game, with two touchdown receptions vs. Shippensburg. He had a career-best 5 catches for 80 yards and a touchdown against St. Anselm.

The senior enters his final campaign with 53 career receptions for 633 yards and 11 TDs. He is tied for eighth in career touchdown receptions with 11, and needs ten catches to set the school record for receptions by a tight end. That record is currently held by C.J. Trivisonno.

While Edinboro, 6-5 a year ago, was not chosen among Lindy’s Preseason Top 25, the list of top teams in Division II definitely exhibits the strength of the Fighting Scots’ schedule. Edinboro will play three of Lindy’s top 11 teams in the first seven weeks of the season.

The Fighting Scots kick off their second season under head coach Scott Browning against 11th-ranked West Chester on Saturday, September 1. Two weeks later the Boro will play at fifth-ranked Bloomsburg on September 15. The Huskies were 12-2 a year ago, won the Northeast Region title and reached the Division II semifinals. Finally, on October 13 the Fighting Scots renew their rivalry with Indiana(Pa.) and former head coach Lou Tepper. The Crimson Hawks are ranked tenth by Lindy’s.
