EDINBORO, PA Ashley Pulman recorded a
pair of goals to lead Edinboro to a 3-1 win over visiting
Bloomsburg on Saturday night in womens soccer action. The
match was the first played on the new artificial surface at Sox
Harrison Stadium. The victory boosted Edinboro to a 2-0-1 record,
while the Huskies fell to 1-2-0.
Edinboro notched the first goal of the match as
Pulman scored her first goal of the season at the 17:44 mark of
the first half, assisted by Angie de Almeida. Pulman put on a
nifty one-on-one move to defeat Bloomsburg goalkeeper Brittany
Moses, and knocked the ball into the right side of the net from
ten yards out.
Bloomsburg would tie the match on a goal by Meg
Donlon, assisted by Kristine Preski, with 33 minutes gone in the
first half.
The Edinboro attack came alive in the second
half, outshooting the Huskies, 12-3. Pulman accounted for the
game-winning goal at 70:49, once again using a one-on-one move to
get past Moses. The goal was unassisted.
The Fighting Scots scored an insurance goal at
the 79:47 mark as de Almeida knocked in a header from 14 yards out
on a pass from Kara Ciacchini. The goal was de Almeidas
third of the season.
Edinboro outshot Bloomsburg, 16-7. Samantha
Cairns picked up the win in goal, registering five saves.
The Fighting Scots are back in action on
Monday, September 3, hosting California(Pa.) in a 4 p.m. PSAC West
match at Sox Harrison Stadium. |
