EDINBORO, PA – Jessica Rexroat recorded an
assist in the first half of play and followed with a goal to begin
the second half to help the Fighting Scots defeat California
(Pa.), 3-0. The Monday afternoon win was Edinboro’s third
straight, improving their record to 3-0-1, PSAC West 2-0-0 while
California (Pa.) fell to 0-4-0, PSAC West 0-3-0.
The Fighting Scots scored their first goal at
the 34:57 mark of the first half. Heather Weismiller tipped a
cross by Jessica Rexroat into the goal from ten yards out.
Edinboro added another goal at the start of the
second half from Angie de Almeida with an assist by Ashley Pulman.
Almeida began the attack from 30 yards out with a spectacular
one-on-one move to go past goalkeeper, Erin Cook.
The Fighting Scots added another insurance goal
at the 77:23 mark. Ashley Jones free kicked the ball over a wall
of four girls to the left side of the goal. Rexroat then knocked
in the goal past the diving Cook.
Edinboro outshot California (Pa.) 17-7.
Samantha Cairns recorded another win in goal for Edinboro with
five saves.
The Fighting Scots will continue PSAC West
action on Thursday, September 6 when they travel to Slippery Rock.
Edinboro will return home Saturday, September 15 against West
