EMAIL FROM A CAMPERS MOTHER 2006
Dear Bruce,
My sons, (camper's names), attended your heavyweight camp this
past summer, and I wanted to let you know we saw a tremendous
improvement in their wrestling skills this year, particularly with
regard to (camper's name).
(camper's name), who is a junior and wrestles at 215 lbs., went
from having a losing record last year to placing 2nd at the City
Championship this year. (camper's name) also placed 3rd at the
(city) Catholic Athletic Conference this year, and he placed 6th
at the (name) Tournament, which is a very large tournament (24
east coach prep schools). My son (camper's name), who wrestles at
275 lbs., placed 3rd at the Championships (another of your camp
students actually won the Championship, a heavyweight from
(school).
In any event, I want to thank you because I know your camp was
instrumental in improving the boys' wrestling skills.

Sir,
I have just returned from a trip and wanted to thank you. "Camper's
Name" had a wonderful at your camp and I know he learned a
lot. I'm actually envious of "Camper's Name" because he
met you, Rulon Gardner and other Olympians. Hopefully, my wife and
I can send "Camper's Name" up next year. Thank you again
for your e-mails when I was deployed and the other assistance you
gave me.

I had a fun at camp and learned a lot. I hope I will be able to
come back again next summer. I can not wait until wrestling
season.

EMAIL FROM A CAMPER 2006
Hey Bruce,
It is your buddy (campers name). I am just writing to say
that even though I was hurt and could not participate I had fun
and hope to be back next year. Thanks for having the wrestlers you
had they taught me stuff that would help me against my opponents
and give me the upper hand. I ordered a knee brace for my knee so
I can wrestle this season. I have one question to ask you. So keep
in touch and stay out of trouble.
EMAIL FROM A CAMPERS FATHER 2006
Coach Baumgartner,
FYI
I like to say many thanks for your HWT school this past July. My
son, (campers name) attended for the first time with great
results. He beat out 4 HWTs, 1 senior, 2 soph's and 1 freshman. My
son is a 10th grader this year and made the varsity squad, (school
name) 1A-2A (state) State Champs 2005-06. He also won his very
first varsity 285lb match by decision. He used a takedown move
that he had learned from camp.
IT WAS AWESOME!
Again many thanks,

EMAIL FROM A CAMPER 2006
Dear Bruce:
I wasn't really sure how I felt about attending your Heavyweight
Camp during the past July 4th week. Being the fourth-lightest guy
in the camp, getting thrown around like a piece of fresh meat by
the herd of studs with a lot more skill and experience than me,
was pretty intimidating.
However, I'm glad that I stuck with it and made it through camp
in one piece. I'm writing to you tonight to say "Thank You!"
After working my way up from JV Heavyweight as a freshman and JV
215 as a sophomore, I'm wrestling Varsity 189 for (school name) in
(state). We had our first match of the season tonight and, even
though my opponent looked like a lot better wrestler than me, I
slapped him in a cradle and stuck him on his back.
Memories of my week in Edinboro ran through my mind as the
referee pounded the mat. Every painstaking, agonizing, painful
moment at camp became worth it! I've worked really hard to get to
this point, unsure how it would pay off. I have a lot more work
ahead of me, but now I have an idea of how it much it all will be
worth it in the end.
So again, thank you for running an excellent camp, pushing us to
our limit (and maybe a little further), and caring about each of
us. And as my coach says now, I'm the luckiest person in the world
while doing this sport.
I LOVE THIS SPORT!!
Sincerely,
(Camper)

HELLO,
This is (Camper) mom, I just wanted to take a minute and thank
you and your staff for providing an awesome camp for young
wrestlers of today. (Camper) had an awesome varsity senior season
this year. I'm not sure if you keep track of any kids that come to
your camp, so I just wanted to let you know. (camper) was a
(State) champ this year. This was the first time (high school) has
ever had a state champ. Also at Senior Nationals in Pittsburgh he
was All American placing 7th. (camper) will also be attending
(name) University on a full wrestling scholarship. I believe this
has some to do with attending your camp for 2 summers !!!!!
THANKS AGAIN,

boys.

I would highly recommend the Bruce Baumgartner Camp outside of
Erie PA at Edinboro University. I paid for my son to go there
after his freshman year when he went 9-10. He came back his
sophomore year and went 40-3 and took 4th in STATE
E-MAIL FROM CAMPER'S FATHER 2002
Bruce,
For some time now I have been meaning to write and thank you for
your influence and your camps. Each of my twin sons have attended
your heavyweight camps. One attended two of your camps. Through
the experiences and training they had with you and the camp
instructors, both my sons gained inspiration, confidence and
knowledge they each feel were major contributors to their success
in high school. Although they never had it to be the start quality
of your level,; what you did was take a couple of fairly average
kids and elevate them to a higher level of wrestlers. They were
dominate in their classes on the local level. Each having 35+ wins
and only 4 losses in their senior year. One wrestled 189 the other
wrestled hwt for (camper's high school), here in (state)
they were district and regional champions, members of the all
academic teams and placed well in the state tournaments the
seasons following their attendance to your camps. They each were
recruited to play division I in football and wrestle for several
colleges. They chose wrestling and for (university name)
one was a 197# starter for (team) his freshman year. The
other became a starter at hwt class his sophomore year. Although
self-described as "being very small and almost average fish
in a very large pond of talent", they achieved their
childhood goals of wrestling division I. And, they still give
credit to attendance to your camps as being a part of the reason
for their modest success.
For them and for myself I thank you,
(father's name)
Proud papa

Thank you for holding such a great heavyweight camp. Thanks to
the work of you and your staff my record of 20-13 as a freshman
has improved to 29-1 as a sophomore. Our conference championship
is coming up this weekend and I just wanted to let you know of my
progress. I plan to attend this year's camp. Thank you very much.

Dear Mr. Baumgartner,
My name is (camper's name). I attended your heavyweight
school the summer 2001 before my sophomore year. Throughout my
sophomore year I wrestled an excellent season using the techniques
I learned at your camp and ended up with a record of 44-7, and a
Div. III Ohio High School State Championship in the 275lb weight
class. I am now a junior and I have a record of 22-1, and hoping
for a repeat. I received your flyer in the mail today and intend
on attending this summer before my senior year. I just wanted to
thank you for all great skills I picked up at your camp.
Yours in wrestling,

NOTE FROM CAMPER'S FATHER 2001
Dear Bruce,
I just wanted to let you know that (camper's name)
learned a lot at your camp last year and has been very successful
this wrestling season. He is in the 215 weight class and is 31-2
going into Conference Tournament this week-end. Out of those 31
wins 20 are pins, 1 tech fall, 6 decisions and 3 forfeits. I
wanted to mention that the 215 weight class was just added this
year to (high school name) line-up.
Your camp helped with building his self esteem and
determination. (camper's name) has gone to other camps but
they did not concentrate on the upper weights. Keep up the good
work in promoting wrestling. It's a great sport.
Again, thanks again for all your help and your staffs help, it
was greatly appreciated by (camper's name) and his
parents.
Thanks again,

Bruce,
I just wanted to drop a line and say thanks fro the great time
and the opportunity to work at the camp. My kids really got a lot
out of it and they want to come back next year. I hope that they
talk it up and get their teammates to come so we can bring the
whole team. I was really impressed myself with how smoothly things
were ran and the clinic staff that you had. Really a great job on
everyones part. The Edinboro team did a great job and it was nice
to see everyone so invested in the sport.

Hi Bruce,
My son (camper's name) was at camp. He found you one of
the most inspirational. He has been wrestling since he was eight
years old and had good success. Since he has been home he has been
wrestling with his peers and some high school wrestlers who are
much older. He has been "spanking" everyone and
constantly putting the whole family in painful moves that he has
learned (Ouch!!!).
I would like to thank you for making a great impression on (camper)!
We will be at a tournament in Long Island on Saturday and he can't
wait to demonstrate his skills.
Thanks a lot,

EMAIL FROM PARENT 2003
Dear Bruce,
My son and I want you to know that we think your camp last
summer was the best camp for competition and physical discipline.
(camper) really liked the take down tournament and
interacting with the high school wrestler's. The leadership shown
by Edinboro coaching staff (yourself, Tim Flynn, Lou Rosselli and
Joe Hennis) was very helpful for (camper) through his
junior high season this year, (camper) loved every minute
of camp and is looking forward to coming back this summer. I know
my son (camper) wants to thank you all, at this time (camper's)
record is:
Jr. High 13-0 Dual meets Jr. High 22-4 Overall with one more
tournament left.
Going to camp at Edinboro has made him an even better wrestler,
mentally and physically and he hopes to wrestle for Edinboro. Once
again thank you and your staff and all the Edinboro wrestlers, I
look forward to seeing you this summer at camp, and hopefully can
fill a team.
Sincerely,

This is (camper) from S.C. I came to your camp last
summer and I will be back this one. I did ok this year I went 26-3
2 losses to the state champ and 1 loss to the #3 guy in the state.
At the upper state finals I placed 2nd this year at 275 I am about
245. Your camp has been the best thing to ever happen to me. I
just have one more year to win the title. I hope to hear from you
soon and I am going to try to go to the NCAA this year and watch
maybe see you there.
Thank you so much!

I attended your camp two years in a row. It was the greatest
experience of my life. I unfortunately missed last year though,
due to a family issues. I will definitely be returning next
summer. After attending your camp, I had the most successful
wrestling year ever going 17-5 my freshman year. I used many of
the techniques I learned at your camp. I won't ever forget the
great experiences I had there. See you next year!

has ever attended. He told me that all the coaches were
approachable and taught him much more than just the physical moves
necessary to be a winner.
Bruce I want to thank you and your team of coaches for all the
important lessons in life you shared with my son.

Hello Mr. Baumgartner,
My name is (camper's name), I am from Long Island and I
was in attendance at the heavyweight wrestling camp this summer.
First of all it was one of the greatest experiences I have had.
You have been an inspiration to me on and off the mat. Your talks
on life, school, and wrestling have helped me to shape more of my
character. There were parts of it that were lost so you and the
staff were great. Having Rulon Gardner and Kerry McCoy there was
great and Matt Ghaffari and Brian Keck were outstanding teachers
along with everybody else.

me greatly. It not only taught me technique but also how to be a
mentally prepared wrestler.
P.S. our team looked great on ESPN

Tim and Bruce,
I attended your camp about five years ago and brought approx. 15
kids with me at that time. We had a wonderful experience. Since
then we have gone to Oklahoma, Iowa and Ohio State to see what
different camps had to offer. I still rate your camp the best I
have ever been to. The personal and genuine attention my kids
received at your camp has been equaled by none.

NOTE FROM COACH/CAMPER'S FATHER
Dear Bruce,
I first want to thank you for leading a truly "World Class"
wrestling camp. The week that I spent at Edinboro was the most
worthwhile week of wrestling instruction as well as life lessons I
could have hoped for my wrestlers, myself and my eight year old
son who attended with us.
Having daily access to two Olympians as well as a National
Champion and All Americans, who were always eager to teach and
guide can't be calculated in dollars and cents. Nor can I say that
the seven and half-hour drive to Edinboro was too far, because it
was clearly worth the trip.
My son (son's name) told me last week that he misses
camp. As we were leaving Edinboro, my wrestlers were saying that
they already were missing camp.
As we drove the long trip back to the (town), I asked
the boys to tell me the most important lessons they learned. As
you can imagine the list of new moves came first to their minds,
but because we had a lot of time, they were able to really think
about the whole week. I am happy to report that the overall
message received by my wrestlers and my son was to lead a good
life and do the right things in life. That they could be
champions, if they work hard for it. And that they need to set
goals that are a stretch and attainable. Most importantly, they
learned that they should always do their best.
Two days after we got back, I got a call from one of the boys
who came to camp. He said, "Coach, I really want to win the
districts and go as far as I can go." That wrestler is a
junior this year. After we talked and I gave him my support and
some initial goals to consider, I thanked the lord for making sure
I received the brochures for you " World Class Wrestling
Camps." I should have probably thanked Tim Flynn too.
I have enclosed some pictures for you to keep and give away to
the appropriate parties. Please note the sentiment on the back of
some of the pictures. I enjoyed meeting your wife Linda and I hope
you both enjoy the enlargement I had made of you and Dylan. Please
tell Dylan that Coach (name of coach) misses him and
thanks him for all of his help on the video. I have also enclosed
a commemorative T-shirt for you to show (state) pride.
Thanks again for all of your support with my team and my son.
Yours Truly,
(coach/father's name)
